Trekker‘s Perspective

Christopher Sanders, Camino Trek 2013

The TFK Adventurer program helped us bring a deeper meaning to our family trek along the Camino de Santiago; moreover, the knowledge that we were making a difference in the lives of orphaned children served to inspire us throughout our 130 mile journey.

Not everyone can join a trek, but there is still a great way to make a lasting impact. TFK Adventurers can embark on their own adventure quest and raise donations for the orphanage-improvement work of Trekking for Kids while seeking their own unique personal "summit". Running a marathon? Hiking a mountain? Getting married? A significant birthday? Any event on your calendar can become an opportunity to make a difference. TFK has made major improvements on orphanages around the globe, changing the lives of hundreds of children. Won't you join us?

How does it work?

A few months in advance of your event, let Trekking for Kids staff help you prepare your personal TFK Adventurers fundraising page on the Trekking for Kids website. The page will include a description of what you'll be doing, a photo of yourself, your fundraising goal, and an area where your donations will be displayed along with any message your donor leaves you. Your fundraising page also includes a "Donate" button that links to our secure donation site and a fundraising meter to watch your progress. Once you're set up, it's easy, begin fundraising!

To start, email your community with an announcement of your upcoming feat, why you're choosing to make the adventure benefit orphaned and at-risk children, and include a link to your fundraising page. Donors will receive an emailed receipt for their tax-deductible donation. TFK will also provide you with brochures, a DVD, a TFK hat, and all the help and guidance you might need.
