Our Adventure

Join us for a first ever alumni & friends trek to Scotland and the Isle of Skye. For 8 days we will explore some of the most beautiful, rugged, and mystical landscapes in the world.

We start in the capital city of Edinburgh where we will be staying in the medieval Old Town on the Royal Mile. After a day of exploring we will travel to the Bridge of Orchy to begin our trek on the final 3 days of the West Highland Way trail (the most scenic days of the trek) ending in Fort Williams. The trek will take us through the famous Rannoch Moor, along the stunning Glencoe mountains and over the Devils Staircase.

After arriving to Fort Williams, we will take the "Hogwarts Express" (Jacobite steam train) over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct to the port city of Maillag where we will set sail to the enchanting Isle of Skye.

For the next two days we will explore the Isle of Skye, the largest of the Inner Hebrides islands. We will do shorter hikes to visit the Fairy Glen, Fairy Pools, the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, Neist Point, among other places, as we circumnavigate the island. The Isle of Skye is one of the most beautiful places on this planet to explore and will certainly be a highlight of the trip.

After exploring the Isle of Skye we will travel to Inverness with stops at the famous Eilean Donan castle and Loch Ness where we will take a short cruise on the water in search of Nessie.

Since we will be day-hiking you will only need to carry a daypack. We will hike an average of 4-7 hours a day. No previous trekking experience needed, but we require that all Trekkers be in good physical condition. It's important that a good physical conditioning program be undertaken at least two months before departure.

Northern Ireland Coast trek (Optional Add On)

We will be continuing on to Northern Ireland to hike to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Giant's Causeway , for those that want to join this optional add on at the end of the Scotland trek.

We will fly from Inverness to Belfast before starting our 2 day trek from Ballintoy to the Giant's Causeway and then on to Dunluce Castle along the Causeway Coast Way trail, one of the most beautiful coastal treks in the world. After the trek we will spend a day in both Belfast and Dublin.

Our Work

Participants will be asked to raise $1000 in tax-deductible donations to help Trekking for Kids continue its work to help children around the world. One specific project we will be helping with is to buy goats for an income generating projects for the Baan San Fan children's home in Thailand; a home TFK has been working with for the past 8 years.

Expedition Dates: September 25 - October 2, 2022 (Please note: dates listed are the arrival and departure dates into Edinburgh (EDI) and out of Inverness (INV) airports.)

Add On Northern Ireland Dates: October 2-6, 2022 (Please note: return is from Dublin on October 6)

Single Supplement can be arranged. (if you want to room alone)

3 Step Process

1. Apply • Fill out the online application
• Pay $500 deposit ($50 non-refundable)

2. Prepare • Read Information and Fundraising Packet from TFK
• Start a training regimen if not already exercising regularly
• Fundraise
• Gather all necessary gear for the Trek
• Pay remaining Expedition fees
• Arrange flights

3. Experience • Arrive in-country and meet your TFK group leaders and fellow Trekkers.
• Enjoy a trip of a lifetime!
