Thank you for checking out my fundraising page and welcome to Trekking for Kids if you are new to this amazing group. Trekking for Kids (TFK) is a non-profit organization who organizes treks around the world to help orphaned and at-risk children in the destinations where the treks take place.
This coming July, I again set off on another trek, this time hiking the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain to help at-risk/street children across the Strait of Gibraltar in Morocco. Bayti is a NGO found in Casablanca in 1994 for street children. The Bayti Center in Essaouria is not a "home", but rather a drop in center for street children, working children, abandoned children, and victims of crime and sexual exploitation. They serve about 100 children, 6-18, from the local area.
At the Bayti Center, children can paint, play music, play sports, learn life skills, engage in discussions, receive counseling, get help with schoolwork, have a meal, learn to read and write if older or return to school if younger, and learn trade skills. We hope that our assistance might advance their work and help minimize the risk that these children might end up back on the street.
I am writing to you to ask - if your current situation allows it - for your donation to the projects at the Bayti Center to help these children who are not as fortunate as many of us have been (none goes to pay for my trek BTW!).
Your donation is tax deductible and goes 100% to the work that will be done to improve the lives of these children. Our $25K fundraising goal will fund these projects:
• Renovation and expansion of the kitchen, including new cupboards, large sinks, and floor tiles
• New stove, refrigerator, large freezer
• Repairs and paint to outside building walls (we will be doing the painting!)
• New furnishings for office and counseling rooms
• Office equipment: scanner, projector, screen
• Educational materials
• School fees and scholarships for vocational training
• Vertical garden for balcony (we are in charge of getting this built while we are there!)
• Sports equipment and toys
• Back packs, school supplies
• Dental supplies

Trekking for Kids
Over the past 8 years, Trekking for Kids has touched the lives of more than 500 children in 7 countries, contributed more than $500,000 to raise roofs, build kitchens, new dormitories, ensure a child's place in school...a myriad of sustainable projects in orphanages around the world that are investing in the future of those countries: today's children. TFK harnesses a traveler's love of adventure and combines it with dedication to serving the less fortunate. On a TFK expedition, participants make sustainable, capital improvements on an orphanage or children's home in the area where the trek takes place.
