Our Adventure

Trekking for Kids and Mountain Lodges of Peru, in conjunction with Motherless Daughters Retreats, are pleased to offer this special custom 9-day cultural, service, and trekking expedition through the Lares Valley to Machu Picchu on September 16-25, 2022. Mountain Lodges of Peru is an award-winning collection of boutique lodges in the remote mountains of Peru, and with TFK offer a trip that combines adventure and purpose in one of the most spectacular mountainous areas of that country, the Lares Valley. Machu Picchu is the final destination in what promises to be a memorable and rewarding trip.

Our adventure will begin in Cusco, the ancient Incan Capital and a vibrant city full of history, Spanish and Incan architecture, and colorful local culture. Travelers will then embark on the trek through the Lares Valley. Each day, trekkers will have a choice of activity, whether its a vigorous long hike to the next lodge, or a sampling of cultural site tours or activities, such as a cooking class, or a visit to a remote village. Our final destination, Machu Picchu, is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Our Trek will be fully supported by a local trekking company and led by experienced local guides. No previous trekking experience needed, but we require that all Trekkers be in good physical condition and able to hike for several hours, non-stop, carrying a daypack. It's important that a good physical conditioning program be undertaken at least two months before departure.

Our Work

On this trip, we will work to improve the lives of children living in the remote, beautiful Peruvian mountains, making capital improvements on the Huacahausi school in that region. Most of the work will be completed in advance of our arrival, and we will spend time during the trek visiting the school and completing the project, which makes the fundraising effort so rewarding. Each participant will be asked to raise a minimum of $1,000, which is tax-deductible, to support the work, and all money raised goes directly to the project.

This expedition is limited to 16 people. Deadline to apply and deposit is due May 1. Exclusions include airfare to Cusco, tips for guides, alcoholic drinks, and lunch on arrival and meals on the day of departure.

Expedition Requirements

• 18 years or older
• Good health
• Physically fit
• Willing to raise minimum $1000 of tax-deductible donations for orphanage projects

3 Step Process

1. Apply • Fill out the online application (link will be provided with invitation)
• Pay $500 deposit ($50 non-refundable)

2. Prepare • Read Information and Fundraising Packet from TFK
• Start a training regimen if not already exercising regularly
• Fundraise for projects at school
• Gather all necessary gear for the Trek
• Pay remaining Expedition fees
• Arrange flights

3. Experience • Arrive in-country.
• Enjoy a trip of a lifetime!
